Problems in our communities include the areas of health care, education, security, hunger, violence, discrimination, homelessness, pollution and many other pressing issues.
Many, many people are already at work on these problems.
Many people have chosen their careers carefully knowing early on that they wanted to make a difference. Examples of these fields would include, but not be limited to, education, health care, police, fire, and ambulance services, government service, or library sciences.
Many other community members work diligently on problems of our communities by serving on committees and commissions for their city governments, churches and other organizations. Examples of this voluntary service would include, but not be limited to school boards, hunger projects, homeless center volunteers, youth program volunteers, etc., etc.
Look around you, in your community. The list is endless. Wonderful people that are working to make a difference!
It is important to realize, and honor, those dear souls that are willing to work within the system and remain true to the desire that initially caused them to choose to work in public service. It is often easy to generalize and forget the honorable job that many are doing from within a structure that makes it all but impossible. It is easy to miss their fine deeds because it is easy to focus on the deeds of others that have cast their commitment to serve the public aside in favor of increasing their own financial, or social, gain.

Remember that the pen is a powerful tool, but remember to use it to praise a job well done as often as you use the pen to criticize.
"So why do the problems still exist?" You ask. Well, It appears as though the decisions that are made regarding how to expend out community resources are being made by people that either do not have a grasp on the judicious use of those resources or worse. A worst case scenario would suggest, they do not have the wellbeing of all the community members at heart. This suggests that the interest of the decision-makers, who are often elected, are serving a master that controls them, rather than the public that elected them. Take a look at the voting records of your representatives and see which actions that effect the future of your children's children, these elected officials supported. Do you really want to keep them there?
Is it possible that the representatives that manage our community's resources should be doing exactly that, managing? Not determining how our resources should be spent, rather how to spend those resources to benefit all of the people from the community in the most effective way to maximize the effectiveness of that resource distribution. One that truly expresses the will of the people.
And, WHAT CAN WE DO? WE CAN UNIFY OUR COMMUNITIES. WE CAN EMPOWER THE PEOPLE WE CAN RE-VITALIZE REAL PARTICIPATORY DEMOCRACY

What is a Community Unifying Conference/Festival
and How Does It Work???
A Conference/Festival (C/F) is made up of two distinct parts. A festival portion and a conference portion. Both parts are presented concurrently. It is important that maintain our connection with the creative and spiritual parts of our nature while we consider and plan our futures, indeed our very survival.
Festival Portion
Through the experience of presentations of the fine and performing arts we will be more and more aware of who we are as individuals within the larger community. By having a community festival that honors the many ethnic, and interests, segments of the community we create a common experience that produces a feeling of oneness and community. Our communities are re-vitalized and enhanced. Truly, unity through the experience of diversity. It Works!
Conference Portion
The conference segment of a C/F is where the many issues that are of concern and interest in our communities are shared. By using the forum, workshops, lectures, and media presentations it is possible for interested parties to engage in meaningful dialog that results in actions that can make a difference. it will change the future. In our communities there are many, many groups of people that have much information and knowledge to share with their sisters and brothers. Until now, these people, with much to say, have not had a common venue where they could make their concerns and the solutions to those concerns known. There is a huge difference between a lone soul standing on a street corner trying to tell the truth to passersby and that same soul offering the position that they want to share at a community event that has been created for exactly the purpose of sharing information and knowledge. When we listen to information with the purpose of learning, we gain in understanding and we grow in our power as citizens of a democracy.
In Summery; The festival-portion of Link Our World experience draws on the arts to mobilize the feeling-nature of individuals and communities; it opens the heart and empowers the imagination. The conference-portion educates and inspires via the pathway of information, knowledge, and (hopefully!)wisdom.
As we combine these approaches and experience their synergistic effects, we can expect to see a renaissance of participation in all areas of life and living, including the process of democracy itself. Link Our World is a stand that our communities will experience a revitalization and that our voting booths will be filled to unprecedented highs.
