The Day of your Event

Plan for this day months in advance so you are not forced to do everything at the last minute. You need to take the night before the show off from work and go out to socialize with the other participants. Don't "do it yourself" this night. Take a break so you have all your energy for the Conference/Festival. You'll need It.!

Start the day on time and keep things moving on time. Plan a full but not "too-full" day. Don't over extend yourselves. Stick to your plan!

Know who will help with each event and what their skills are.

Have everyone commit themselves to a specific chore and time slot, and then encourage them to arrive 10 minutes early; that way it is easy for the people being replaced at shift change to leave on time.

Have people who know how to do specific things do those things. Today is not the time to learn!

Keep things moving. If you let one presenter or performer go overtime, someone else's time will need to be shortened in order to stay on schedule and that can create unhappy feelings.

Find a way to easily identify the Conference/Festival staff. Silk-screened T-shirts of a particular colour are an easy way to avoid mistakes or frauds. Staff shirts of different colours can be a fine $$$ raiser.

Don't forget to use your decision tree for rapid problem and question resolution.
