After you have decided to produce a PF/C and your "core action/production group" has planned the event in detail, go to your city council and ask them for an endorsement. This will help you gauge the support of your community leaders. The council may embrace the concept and view it as a splendid statement for the community to make. On the other hand they might feel that a community PF/C may send signals about the community that could be counter productive to their current agenda. If your city council does not openly support the idea of a PF/C, they may still support the event without giving it an official endorsement by participating as individuals in your events. It is possible that they may actually oppose your endeavour. Opposition can be okay, however, because it will insure that your plans for a PF/C will never be far from the minds of the community. Part of the goal of a PF/C is to bring the ideas of Peace and civic involvement to the front of your community's collective consciousness. If your community leaders either do not wish to actively endorse the PF/C or they are in opposition to it, your responsibility is to determine your rights and then produce a PF/C that will change their minds and persuade them to support next year's event! You can do it!
