What does it mean to work for Peace in the home community producing a Peace Conference/Festival (PC/F)? How do we do it? A dedicated few can do a lot (that is, the PC/F production crew working with this step-by-step manual). HOW IS A PC/F BENEFICIAL? 1) It brings the various local action groups together into a recognizable whole. 2) It leads to the free exchange of ideas and concerns that may affect our communities. 3) It provides a specific point of agreement that helps open minds to new, previously unconsidered perspectives problems and solutions. 4) It provides a forum at which groups that have a cause will be able to offer their positions to the community. 5) It is the change makers in the community who will see the value of the exchange of ideas that the PF/C offers. Peace is an idea that no one will argue against. Peace + creativity + education = A PC/F While a PC/F is not an industry festival/conference (such as trade fairs and county fairs), many business people and professionals are Peace loving and may wish to make a contribution. Make it possible for them to sponsor events, buy food and drink for performers, pay the travel costs of a musical group, or donate their talent. You may find printers, attorneys, accountants and others who will gladly offer their services to your efforts. Let them show you how they can help, then give them credit for their contribution in your program. Let the community know who has helped; it will encourage others to volunteer the next time you have a PC/F.
